When comparing Word, Excel, and Presentation for a journal entry each of them has their own pros and cons. I believe it's up to the person using each program which one they prefer and easier for them to use.
The
functions in Word are basic to use. When changing font, size, or color, all can
be found in the home tab and easy to click on. When it comes to aligning or
formatting it could be a little more challenging but easy to fix if you know
exactly what to do. The advantages of using Word are that it is very
user-friendly, there are many formatting options, the ability to use spell and
grammar checks, and there are templates to choose from when creating a
document. The disadvantages are there is a compatibility issue with files and
some software versions, sometimes there may be formatting issues, there is a
slight learning curve although it is user-friendly, and some users may find the
interface confusing especially if they are used to the older versions.
When it
comes to Excel, just like Word, the functions are basic and easy to use. The advantages of using Excel are it is
customizable with many formulas and functions, it can organize large amounts of
data into rows or charts, it includes a variety of customizable templates, and has
a high user adaption rate. The disadvantages are there is a learning curve when
using Excel although it is user-friendly, spreadsheets may not be recoverable
if lost, and it cannot do powerful complex processing.
PowerPoint for me is fun to use. It is a way to show
creativity while presenting information. The advantages are it is very easy to
use and navigate, users can use audio, video, animation, and graphics making it
versatile. The disadvantages are templates may over used especially with long presentations,
there are some technical difficulties including audio-visual glitches because
it doesn’t have a limit on how many slides to use, and it's easy to add way too
many making it difficult to upload or share.
For me, word was the application that best worked because I
was documenting my day in a journal entry. Excel was good for documenting the
hours spent and the percentage used for each activity. The presentation was
just fun to use but didn’t catch all of the things involved in the journal
entry.
